Free Printable Food Coupons Make a Great Grocery List
I have three teenagers and all of them are involved in extracurricular activities. My oldest Johnny plays forward in soccer, Lila does dance, and Tessa is my swimmer. The sports are wonderful for social development and self-confidence, but are a nightmare for my kitchen and pocketbook. I swear even my little twelve year old has an appetite the size of a baby elephant. Thankfully I don’t have to taxi my kids around to practices because their friends carpool, but I do have to make sure they eat, and eat well. Thank goodness for free printable food coupons that I discovered on the internet.
The only day we manage to eat together is Sunday, so it always seems as if one of my kids is banging around the kitchen looking for something to munch on. They open the fridge and hang off the door while they scan the shelves. Then they move to the cupboard and after a pause bang that closed, complaining that there is nothing to eat in the entire house and someone should call child services. I don’t know who they’re trying to kid, because there is always food in this house. It’s just the food they don’t like. Thankfully, that morning I went online and printed off a page of free printable food coupons so shopping would be easy that afternoon.
The next thing I knew four-o-clock came and started off the usual routine. I was folding clothes in the laundry room when I heard one of my kids come through the front door, drop a duffel bag in the entry with a flump, and head straight to the kitchen. I hollered for him to take off his cleats before he stepped on the new linoleum. The footsteps halted and Johnny grumbled before moving back to the entry to pull off his shoes before returning to the kitchen.
After several moments of banging and stomping I heard the sigh of exasperation, so I finished folding the towel in my hands and walked into the kitchen. I asked how his day went and told me things were fine while he squirmed away from my hug so he could start scrounging around in the drawers. All the while, stuck to the front of my fridge, was my full page of free printable food coupons just waiting to be used.
I fell in step behind my son as he moved to the shelves where I usually kept the cookies and granola bars, but apparently nothing was grabbing his attention. I quickly slipped a fifty dollar bill out of my purse, pulled the free printable food coupons out from under the magnet and handed both of them to Johnny before he could adopt his sixteen year old whiney voice. His face darkened slightly and his frown said a trip to the grocery store was so un-cool.
I told him it wouldn’t take him very long and the sheet of free printable food coupons also worked as a perfect grocery list. He scanned the coupons and his eyes brightened. He glanced up at me and asked if he could really get two boxes of Twinkies. I handed him back the car keys and told him the Twinkies were on there just for him as long as he didn’t forget the milk and eggs. I moved to hug him once more, but he leapt out of my reach, heading for the door. He slid on some house slippers and turned waving the free printable food coupons at me and said thanks with a wide smile spread across his face.
