College is Easier with Free Online Printable Coupons

The last week of my Sophomore year at college was filled with brutal English finals. For my Shakespeare final I sat in a room with a hundred other people and filled eight notebook pages, front and back with minute handwriting, still falling short of the ten page minimum. For my Children’s Literature Class I was to edit and turn in approximately a hundred pages of a novel I had written, and two page reports on each of the twenty-five Young Adult novels I had read through the semester. Similarly vigorous and gruesome finals were required for each of my classes expect for one.

For my American Literature Final we were required to take only a short hundred question test, present a book report on an American author (preferably a minority), and then simply sit through twenty-five other presentations.

It was a lark. I sat with my journal in hand, casually writing down titles and authors that interested me under a heading that declared my summer reading goals.

I figured that I had looked up the Sparknotes on enough books through the semester to get me in trouble with the Literature gods, and that was the last thing I wanted to do.   So I needed to make it up to these gods, and read actual literature. That was before prices of books crossed my mind, and I considered free online printable coupons a waste of time.

I planned on spending my summer break at my grandparents’ house, and had shoved into my suitcase about six books that I deemed absolutely necessary. But when I got to the airport, my luggage was weighed, and I needed to lose thirteen pounds. I managed to cram a pair of shoes, and my art kit into my carry-on, but it was clear what needed to go.

I handed my poor boyfriend a stack of books at security, with the promise to come see them all in just a few months. Once at my grandparents, a list was rewritten. Since most libraries won’t let me check books out anymore, because the books will either come back written in, or never come back at all, I needed to get to the bookstore as fast as possible.

Once inside the cool building, filled with perfectly-scented, clean-paged novels, I went about looking for the books I wanted. But if there’s one thing every college student has in common, it’s that we’re all dirt poor.   Every single book I wanted was expensive. It might be fine on its own, but I wanted dozens of books, not just one or two.

The cashier couldn’t tell me of any sales, or offers that I could sign up for, but she did suggest I look up free online printable coupons for the store.

And look them up I did. I gathered free online printable coupons for every bookstore in the city, and free online printable coupons for almost every store in every mall.

I was able to buy over half of my booklist with the first few coupons I found, a feat that I had not thought possible after one look at the price stickers.   After a few weeks at work, and a few special free online printable coupon deals, I was able to go and buy a few more books, often paying less than a third of the original cost. I was hooked.

But that was just the beginning. When I actually got back to school, and was handed my semester book list, I used free online printable coupons to spend much less, even in my school bookstore. I’m still as poor as ever, but now I am able to stretch my poor, part-time job income to include the things that I want, as well as the things I need.
