Save big at Nordstrom for your kids’ back-to-school needs

You don’t have to spend big to dress your kiddos in high-quality, designer duds at Nordstrom.

Yes, we know how fast kids grow. But, we also know how hard they play, and how important high-quality clothes are to endure that.

We also know how important it is for some kids to kick off the school year with a special first-day-of-school outfit. It sets the tone for the whole year — especially if your kiddos are starting a new school or heading to middle, or high school.

Here are some ways to save money at Nordstrom, and some great ideas for a special first-day-of-school outfit for your kids.

The styles to look for

According to Nordstrom, some of the top back-to-school styles for teens are:

  • Graphic tees
  • Skinny jeans
  • Shirtdresses
  • Wedge sneakers
  • Scarves
  • Booties

For your teen

For your youngster

Echoing the teen trends, plaid is an easy and inexpensive go-to for this fall’s styles.

For boys, look for plaid shirts layered over screenprint tees and straight-leg jeans, like this outfit, with pieces on sale as low as $15.90 right now. This blue Quicksilver shirt is on sale for under $30.

How to save money at Nordstrom

1. Shop the sales.

It should be a national holiday, really. Nordstrom’s semi-annual sale is coming up, right in time to save you money on your back-to-school and winter wear needs.

Nordstrom holds scheduled sales several times per year. The mother of all sales, the Anniversary Sale, runs through Aug. 5.

After this big sale, you can still save big on the half-yearly sale for women and kids on Nov. 6. And save on men’s clothing starting on Christmas online, and Dec. 26 in-store.

2. Shop the Rack.

Beyond the sales, get familiar with the Nordstrom Rack, where you can find majorly discounted Nordstrom clothing.

3. Use the points.

Sign up for a Nordstrom card and accumulate points, which can earn you rewards — and ultimately free clothes. Don’t want to mess with another credit card? You can open a Nordstrom debit card that automatically withdraws directly from your bank account, like a regular debit card, and still get the perks.

Shop Nordstrom Bonus Point Days throughout the year to earn points faster.

Insider tip: Choose any other day to be your own Personal Triple Points Day. (Ahem, back-to-school shopping day!)

4. Use the coupons.

You can find more than a dozen Nordstrom coupons here. Pair it with Cash Back from and get up to 6 percent Cash Back. Nordstrom Rack has its own set of coupons and Cash Back, although only 3 percent Cash Back.
