If half the flavor of food is in its presentation, these school lunches must taste gourmet.

Blame it on Pinterest. Blame it on moms who have way more time that you do. Or appreciate it for simply being a creative way to show your love for your kids and get them interested in healthy food.

Here are some easy but creative school lunches — and some tips on how to spruce up your own kids’ meals.

Let the season inspire you. Arrange fruit to look like flowers in the spring, or set up green broccoli tree scenes in the summer.

The blog Be Different Act Normal shows how to make jack-o’-lantern sandwiches for the fall, referencing a super simple idea originally from Better Homes & Gardens. It’s basically an open-faced sandwich, with a jack-o’-lantern face carved into the yellow cheese. Add a stem and leaf with a cracker and piece of spinach.

The blog Lisa Storms offers a great post on holiday lunches, with easy ways to make snowmen out of bread or marshmallows. Or cut your kids’ sandwich to look like a gingerbread man and decorate with raisins accordingly. While you’re on theme, turn your kids’ juice box easily into a snowman, too, with a little construction paper and glue. Even have your kids help you the evening before, to get the invested in preparing their own lunch for school the next day.

Alpha Mom has a helpful blog about making creative bento boxes. According to her blog, you will need a box, silicon baking cups, a knife and cookie cutters. She provides a variety of surprisingly easy tips and ideas to get you started (such as stack your mini carrots instead of just throwing them into a bag).

We love this lunch box filled with smaller boxes at Vitamin Shoppe, $23.49. The containers are leak-proof that are microwave and dishwasher safe. They are all BPA and lead-free, too.
