So, in honor of that root beer and vanilla ice cream blend, we’ve whipped together some yummy root beer float recipes we can’t wait to try and tossed in an added freebie to celebrate. How will you spend your National Root Beer Day? Enjoy!

Root beer float cookies could potentially be the best idea since the original drink combination was invented in the 19th century. These little delicacies, from the blog Six Sisters Stuff, combine the sweet creamy taste of root beer, paired with the crumbly texture of a cookie. And throw in a root beer frosting? We totally can’t wait to try these.

Your sweet tooth is sure to be satisfied with this root beer float fudge by Susan, the blogger behind The Royal Cook. And no, you don’t have to wait until the holidays to break out the fudge. This recipe brings all the flavor we love in a root beer float and packs it into bite-size sugary squares. Your guests are sure to swoon over these tiny treats at your next backyard barbecue.

We all remember the root beer floats of our youth, but now that we’re a little (OK, a lot) older, how about turning that scrumptious treat into a cocktail? The blog Dine & Dish had us at cocktail, and this libation is one we certainly can’t refuse. This root beer float cocktail looks as fizzy and foamy as the one from our childhood — but with an added kick. Whipped flavored Pinnacle vodka and Bailey’s Irish Cream are the stars of this mixed drink. And we think it would be the perfect cool-down after a hot day in the sun.

Speaking of cooling off, your kids are going to love these ice-cold root beer float bars. From the blog The Little Epicurean, these Popsicles only require two ingredients and some time in the freezer to reach their state of frozen goodness. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate National Root Beer Float Day than with these chilly treats.
