Black Friday and Cyber Monday Shopping Tips from ShopAtHome.com

Black Friday, the big Day After Thanksgiving shopping time, is coming soon. This year, Black Friday is November 27, 2009. What are your plans to make sure you save the biggest amount of money when shopping for Christmas? I know you’ve heard the horror stories… people waking up at 3 am to start their day of shopping, crowds and crowds of men and women shouting, pushing and fighting. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. But, there are ways to avoid all of this chaos, and there’s no need to deal with crowds.

Here are some of the best shopping tips for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, all from people who know the best ways to save money: ShopAtHome.com users!

If anyone is planning on Black Friday shopping, put together a shopping team with friends and family. Put together a wish list with your team. Then go over all the ads, even Black Friday online sales that might take place. Search for any Black Friday coupons via paper or online printable coupons. Group similar items by store. Map out the store routes that you want to hit and know the store layouts. It is best if you split up in several cars so you can hit all the best sales as soon as the doors open. You can have several people staying home to watch all the kids and one person doing the online shopping. Putting together a game plan will ensure you get the items on your wishlist.

Many stores, including Kohl’s and Walmart, have online Black Friday deals that are very similar to the sales that people beat down the doors at 4 a.m. to grab. On Thanksgiving night, I set up my shopping station next to my bed. I have my laptop. my circulars, and my credit cards ready to go. I set my alarm for whatever time the sales are set to begin, and grab the deals that I really want- cozy in my pjs! The following Monday I’m at it again- Cyber Monday! Amazing deals to be had- usually especially on electronics and other tech-y items.

Black Friday…. I know, I know, people try and avoid black Friday like the plague or like that co-worker who stinks real bad. But here is how to make Black Friday shopping work for you. After you have eaten your HUGE thanksgiving dinner and you are feeling blissful and satisfied (this part is very important, simple because the idea of shopping at 5am the next morning would seem crazy if you weren’t in a turkey coma!) sit down with the Black Friday deals from that day’s paper, your computer and a pen and paper. As far as internet ads go, I look up EVERY store that I am looking at a paper ad for. Simple because that particular store may have a great instore deal but an even better online deal or visa versa. Store such as Best Buy, Toys-R-Us, and Target have both in store and online coupons and deals exclusively for Black Friday, so be sure to check them both out.
