Hanes has been in business since 1901, when its founders, J. Wesley Hanes and Pleasant Hanes started manufacturing men’s underwear and hosiery under two separate companies: Shamrock Mills Co. and P.H. Hanes Knitting Company. The two companies merged in 1965 to form the Hanes Corporation.
